John Sellekaers was born in 1973 in Montreal, later moved to Brussels. Around 1988, under the influence of electronic music pioneers such as Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream, he began experimenting with synthesizers. At the same time, he starts a magazine devoted to electronic music, and writes for it.

In 1994, he makes a contract with Nova Zembla label and in 1995 his first album Maps Of The Impossible comes out, under the name of Xingu Hill.

During the last ten years, John has released about forty records on various labels (such as Hushush, Ant-Zen, Hymen, Foton, Delikatessen, Mirex, Re-Load Ambient, and Nova Zembla).

Sellekaers has also recorded under names such as Dead Hollywood Stars, Ambre, Urawa, Uncotones, Moonsanto and Ammo. Xingu Hill always stayed the most famous of them.

He has collaborated with people such as Mick Harris of Scorn, David Thrussell of Snog and Black Lung, Olivier Moreau of Imminent Starvation, Panacea, Silk Saw, and played many shows in Europe and North America.

Since 1998, he has also running the Metarc mastering studio, currently located in Montreal, Canada.

On April 1, 2003, an announcement appeared at the John's website, according to which he had decided to stop musical activity for an indefinite period and engage in other fields of art, not related to music. However, several planned releases were to be issued at MetArc during 2003-2004.
