John Rutherfoord (1792 - 1866) was a U.S. political figure. He served as the governor of Virginia between 1841 and 1842. He was the brother-in-law of Edward Coles.
The odd alternative spelling of the last name, which is pronounced the same way as "Rutherford," often causes people to mistakenly change the name to conform with the more common spelling, however, this is incorrect.[1]
