John Paul Abellera took up BA Communications and Media Studies and BS Business Management, Major in Marketing and Sales at San Beda College-Alabang. His works have been published in The Philippine Star, The Manila Times and Literary Apprentice Light. His short story, "Quiapo", was a finalist at the 2003 NVM Gonzalez Awards. He co-wrote with Jon Lazaro the song, "Awit Ng Pagmamahal", which won 3rd Prize at the 2000 Pro-Life Philippines Foundation, Inc. Song-Writing Contest. He is currently affiliated with ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc. (Star Cinema), for which he has co-written the screenplay of D' Anothers, Dubai, All About Love and Agent X44 and the story of Close To You. At the 2006 Maria Clara Awards, he won the Best Screenplay Award with Ricky Lee and Shaira Salvador for Dubai.
