John Polk Allen (also known by the nom de plume Johnny Dolphin) is an "explorer, author, poet, playwright, scientist"[1] and inventor.

He is best known as the inventor and co-founder of the Biosphere 2 project, and is a known personality in the realm of biospheric science.
