John Minnion
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
John Minnion is an English illustrator. His distinctive black and white drawings have appeared in publications such as Financial Times, The Guardian, and especially The Times, where for six years he illustrated Lynne Truss's column on television criticism. He drew politicians for the New Statesman and composers (both jazz and classical) for The Listener. His skillful caricatures are drawn always from photographs, never from life.
He has released a series of books bringing together drawn and written portraits, firstly of British television personalities, then of 20th century composers, and most recently "Hitler's List", a compendium of those found undesirable by the Third Reich, from Gypsies to Jews, concentrating on the so-called degenerate art. He is working on a book about Liverpool, where he now lives, in time for its year as European Capital of Culture.
