John Miljus

John Kenneth Miljus, (sr. Џон Кенет Миљуш or Džon Kenet Miljuš), nicknamed Big Serb and Jovo, was Serbian-American baseball player. Born on June 30, 1895 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He died February 11, 1976 in Fort Harrison, Montana.
Served in the United States Army during World War I, in France, as part of the 320th Infantry. Miljus' wartime bunkmate was Joe Harris. Ironically, the two of them would later be reunited as members of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Miljus was wounded in action and was to be sent home. He left the hospital to rejoin his unit.
After toiling in the minors, this lanky 6'1" 178 pounder spent six seasons in the major leagues as a pitcher with the Brooklyn Robins, Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Indians. Miljus' career numbers were 29-26 with a 3.92 ERA. He was infamous for his wild pitch during the 1927 World Series.
