John McGrady

John McGrady (born 1958, in Belfast) is a British murderer. He is serving life imprisonment for the murder of teenager Rochelle Holness and is unlikely ever to be released.
He strangled 15-year-old Rochelle in South London in September 2005, before dismembering her body. He was charged with her murder the next day.
McGrady was found guilty of murder at the Old Bailey on 16 May 2006. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and the trial judge recommended that he should never be released.
After McGrady was convicted of Rochelle's murder, it was revealed that he already had a conviction for rape.
In January 2007, the Court of Appeal rejected McGrady's application for a lower minimum term to be set, but within weeks the European Court of Justice began a review into lifelong imprisonment to determine whether such sentences amounted to a violation of human rights. If the court outlaws lifelong imprisonment, then McGrady and all other prisoners serving "whole life" terms will have their cases recalled to court for new minimum terms to be set.
