John Steven Mabry (born October 17, 1970 in Wilmington, Delaware) is a Major League Baseball player for the Colorado Rockies.

Mabry is a graduate of Bohemia Manor High School, in Chesapeake City, Maryland. John attended West Chester University of Pennsylvania. He has been on the St. Louis Cardinals three different times (1994-98, 2001, 2004-2005). He is 6'4" tall, weighs 210 lbs and bats left- and throws right-handed. He is known as a patient batter, showing little emotion while playing the game. In the clubhouse, "Mabes" is a quiet team leader known for his sense of humor. He has batted for the cycle and come up big as a key pinch hitter on the team. He is one of the few major leaguers who prefers not to wear batting gloves.

His only season with over 400 at bats was 1996, when he had 543 and batted .297 on the season.

His career batting average is .265, with 95 home runs and 441 RBI's. He has 894 career hits in 3375 at bats.

Mabry is somewhat versatile on defense, having played more than 100 games at left and right field as well as first and third base. He has worked with former St. Louis Cardinals catcher Mike Matheny in order to serve as emergency catcher should a situation require it, although this scenario has not yet occurred. He has even made two career appearances pitching, pitching a total of 1 inning and giving up 7 earned runs for an ERA of 63.[1]

Mabry resides in St. Louis (Creve Coeur) and is married (Ann) and the father of four children (J.T., Danielle, Nicole and Samantha). He enjoys hunting, fishing and outdoor sports during his leisure time.

Mabry played for the Chicago Cubs in 2006.

Mabry was a fan-favorite in St. Louis, also having the honor of tearing down "47" in Busch's stadium's last games countdown.

Mabry has now agreed to a minor league contract with the Colorado Rockies starting in the 2007 season.
