John Leggott College

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John Leggott College is a sixth form college on West Common Lane, in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, UK. It is situated near to North Lindsey College. It was established in 1968.

The college is one of the best performing[citation needed] 6th form colleges in the country and rarely leaves the top 10 in national A-level results[citation needed]. The college is of beacon standard and is a winner of many prestigious prizes in the country.[1]

Much of the college's success is associated with enigmatic ex-principal David Linnell OBE, who resigned at the end of December 2006 to move to Cornwall College. He is replaced by Nicholas Dakin, former vice-principal and local Labour party leader who has enjoyed success despite being completely invisible.
