John Lawrence Pritchard

John Lawrence Pritchard (born 1948) is a British clergyman in the Church of England, the Bishop-elect of Oxford.

Pritchard was educated at St Peter's College, Oxford, and Ridley Hall, Cambridge. From 1972 to 1976, he served as a curate at St Martin's, Birmingham, and from 1976 to 1980, he was Youth Chaplain and Assistant Director of Education in the Diocese of Bath and Wells. Priest in Charge of Wilton, Taunton, between 1980 and 1988, he was Director of Pastoral Studies at Cranmer Hall, Durham, between 1989 and 1993, and Warden between 1993 and 1996. From 1996 to 2002, he was Archdeacon and Canon Residentiary of Canterbury Cathedral, and from 2002 to 2006 Bishop of Jarrow, a suffragan post.

On 11 December 2006, after a longer-than-usual selection process, it was announced that he would be the 42nd Bishop of Oxford. He will legally become Bishop of Oxford at his confirmation of election in London on 23 March 2007; and will begin his work in his diocese 8 June with a service of inauguration at his Cathedral in Oxford.

Pritchard is married and has two daughters.
