From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John Laffin was an Australian military historian. He was born 21 September 1922 in Mosman, Sydney and died in 2002.

[edit] Early influences

John Laffin's interest in matters military may have come from the fact that both his parents served in World War I.

According to biographical information supplied by Grafton Books, a division of the Collins Publishing Group, in 1988, Laffin was "the author of more than 100 books, 15 of which in one way or another concern Islam. Another 50 are about military history and war".

[edit] Military Service

He served in WWII with Australian commandos in Papua New Guinea. On his return from PNG he was confined to a convalescent home owing to his war injuries. He married the nurse who cared for him.
