John Jarratt
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
John Jarratt (born August 5, 1951 in Wollongong, New South Wales) is an Australian actor currently garnering accolades for his portrayal of Mick Taylor in Wolf Creek.
Jarratt graduated from NIDA, the Australian national drama school in 1973. His screen debut was in The Great Macarthy. His career got off to a flying start with appearances in Peter Weir's Picnic at Hanging Rock in 1975 and Summer City in 1977 with a young Mel Gibson. In the almost 30 intervening years Jarratt has carved out a career combining film and television work. Prior to Wolf Creek he hadn't appeared in a film since 1996 and is currently playing the affable Terry Dodge in Australian television series McLeod's Daughters.
In-between acting roles, Jarratt has worked as a builder and has presented his own building-themed show, Better Homes and Gardens. He is the father of five children (Zadia, Ebony, Charlie, Will and Jackson).
Although he was slated to star in the Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez collaboration, Grind House, he was inexplainibly dropped from the cast list.
Currently, Jarratt, with his wife Cody and fellow actor Chris Haywood, is working on production of the movie Crossing The Line with their production company "Film Oz." The movie is set to be in cinemas in 2007 and will feature past fellow cast members of McLeod's Daughters, Bridie Carter and Brett Tucker. [1]
