John Hermon

Sir John Hermon OBE QPM was the Chief Constable of Royal Ulster Constabulary from 1980 to 1989.

His wife, Lady Sylvia Hermon (née Sylvia Eileen Paisley) is now the Ulster Unionist Party's only Member of Parliament, following the rout of the UUP by the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). She has held the North Down seat since 2001.

Known to all as "Jack", Hermon has been suffering from Alzheimer's disease since at least 2004.
