John Gutekunst was the head football coach at the University of Minnesota from 1985 to 1991. During his tenure there, his teams compiled a 29-37-2 record. He served as an assistant coach at the University of South Carolina and Rutgers University, as well as the University of North Carolina. He also coached at Duke, and Virginia Tech, and is currently the Assistant Head Coach for the University of North Carolina. [1] He was the defensive coordinator at Rutgers from 1994 to 1995. He is an alumnus of Duke University, and played football and baseball there.
