John Gaddy

John Wilson Gaddy (February 5, 1914 - May 3, 1966) was a Major League Baseball pitcher. A native of Wadesboro, North Carolina, he started and won two games for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1938, his only major league action. Nicknamed "Sheriff", the 24-year-old rookie right-hander stood 6"0" and weighed 182 lbs.

In his first game (September 27) he defeated the New York Giants 5-1 in game 2 of a doubleheader at Ebbets Field. In his second and final game (October 2) he beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7-2 at Shibe Park, another doubleheader nightcap.

Gaddy ended his brief major league career with a 2-0 record and a lifetime ERA of 0.69. In 13 innings pitched he gave up 13 hits and one earned run.

He died at the age of 52 in Albemarle, North Carolina.
