John Frederick Paxton is a fictional character in the science fiction television series Star Trek: Enterprise, played by Peter Weller. Paxton, a radical human isolationist leader, headed the group Terra Prime, dedicated to the expulsion of all non-human species from Earth and Sol. Paxton was in charge of the mining operation of Orpheus Mining Colony located on the Moon; in carrying out his threats against aliens, Paxton and the colony relocated to Mars taking over a verteron array just before the signing of a charter to create a coalition that eventually led to the formation of the United Federation of Planets.

In the end, Paxton's attempt to destroy Starfleet Command was thwarted and Paxton himself was imprisoned.

Contrary to Paxton's stated belief that Earth was being harmed by alien influence, it was revealed that Paxton was taking special medication for a disease called Taggart's Syndrome - and that said medication was derived from alien technology. (The name 'Taggart Syndrome' was chosen as a homage to Peter Weller's previous sci-fi series, Odyssey 5, in which Weller played a character named Chuck Taggart.)

Paxton was a great admirer of Colonel Green, a genocidal war leader from late 21st-century Earth. Paxton sought to adapt Green's theories about racial purity for his own use, and founded Terra Prime to attempt to preserve these ideals. T'Pol noted that it was ironic that Paxton would support Green, given that if he were alive in Green's time that Paxton would've been euthanized for not being a "pure" human being.
