John E. Jones

John Evans Jones (December 5, 1840-April 10, 1896) was a Governor of Nevada.
Jones was born in Montgomeryshire, Wales, however his family moved to Iowa in 1856. Jones came west while working on the Union Pacific Railroad, settling in Eureka, Nevada in 1869.
Jones working mining and agriculture until 1883, when he bacame Surveyor-General of Nevada, serving two terms. In 1895 Jones was elected Governor as a member of the Silver Party. However, he died in office a year later on April 10, 1896.
