John Dalrymple, 12th Earl of Stair

John James Dalrymple, 12th Earl of Stair, KT, DSO, DL (1 February 18794 November 1961) was the son of the 11th Earl of Stair.

On 20 October 1904, he married Violet Evelyn Harford (a descendant of the 2nd Earl of Rosse) and they had six children:

  • The Lady Jean Margaret Florence Dalrymple (19052001)
  • John Aymer Dalrymple, Viscount Dalrymple (later 13th Earl of Stair) (19061996)
  • The Lady Marion Violet Dalrymple (born 1908)
  • Captain The Hon. Hew North Dalrymple (born 1910)
  • The Hon. Andrew William Henry Dalrymple (19141945)
  • Major The Hon. Colin James Dalrymple (born 1920)

Lord Stair was Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1927 and 1928.
