John Cunningham (Bishop)

John Cunningham (born 22 February 1938) is the Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Galloway, Scotland.
Born in Paisley, he attended Saint Mary's College, Blairs, Saint Peter's College, Cardross and Scots College, Rome.
Cunningham was ordained priest at Paisley on 29 June 1961. From 1967-1981 he was extra-mural professor of Canon Law at Saint Peter's College, Glasgow. He was parish priest at Saint Patrick's, Greenock, from 1992-2004 and was appointed Papal Chaplain in 1994. From 1997 to 2004 he was Vicar General for the Diocese of Paisley. Prelate of Honour, 1999
He was nominated Bishop of Galloway on 7 April 2004 following the retirement of Bishop Maurice Taylor.
