John Connolly (bishop)

Bishop John Connolly (1750–February 6, 1825), born at Slane, County Meath, Ireland, was the second bishop of the Roman Catholic diocese of New York.
He was ordained a priest on September 24, 1774 and ordained a bishop in Rome on November 6, 1814, but did not reach New York until Nov. 24, 1815. He served as bishop of the diocese of New York until his death. He is interred in the crypt of St. Patrick's Cathedral.
