John Hansen Christensen (born April 29, 1948 in Christchurch) is a former field hockey player from New Zealand, who was a member of the national team that won the golden medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
He followed the so called royal line, from Christchurch Boys High, into the University club team, then Canterbury and New Zealand. Christensen, an inside right, played in three Olympics, capping his career with the gold medal in Canada. He coached Redcliff's senior team and then the Canterbury men's representative team for many years, and is currently a national selector. After earning an engineering degree he worked for the Heathcote Council for many years and then for the Selwyn Council.
