John Carty is one of Ireland's finest traditional musicians. He plays fiddle, tenor banjo, tenor guitar and occasionally the flute. He is very interested in the North Connaught traditional music style.

Born in London, John now lives in Boyle, Co Roscommon.

In 2003 he was awarded the Irish Television station, TG4’s Traditional Musician of the Year. The award places him in the elite company of previous winners such as Matt Molloy and Paddy Keenan.
