John Bryant (Kent cricketer)

John Bryant (born c.1717; died 23 July 1772) and his brother James Bryant (died May 1755), both of Bromley in Kent were noted English cricketers of the mid-Georgian period. Generally rated by the sources to have been fine players, they particularly excelled in single-wicket contests. They were two of the best players in Kent and were key members of the Bromley club which had a leading team through the 1740s.
Both brothers were landlords of the Greyhound Tavern in Bromley, John taking over after James and his wife Mary both died in 1755.
James and John are both recorded in matches from 1743: James until 1751 and John until 1756.
