John Best, Jr. was a member of the city council of Durham, North Carolina.

A local businessman and a native of Durham (having graduated from Durham's Jordan High School), Best was first elected to the Durham City Council in 2001, representing Ward 3 (western Durham). He was defeated in 2005 by Mike Woodard, having captured only 27% of the votes.
