John Anthony Lees born 1940, in the village of Lees, near Oldham, Lancashire, England.

Educated De La Salle Grammar. Left School and worked for British Vita and went on to open his own business in Catterick, Richmond, Yorkshire called Beaverfoam. The company expanded rapidly and changed it's name to Beaverco PLC before going public in the mid 1980's. The company was responsible for the invention, distribution and legislation of flame retardant foam.[citation needed]
