'John Alun Nicholas Thomas was born on 28 Februrary [ 1898] at Tregaron in [ Cardiganshire]. His father David

Thomas lived at wern Villa and he was the headmaster of the local primary school in the town. The son had a very cultured home and made the most of it.

His Education. Alun Thomas was taught at the local Grammar school,University College of Wales,[Aberystwyth](now called Aberystwyth University) and [ London School of Economics].He gained his BA, then his MA and finally his PH.D in History His Academic Career. Dr J.Alun Thomas specialised in [History] ,and in particular the History of the British [Parliament].He prepared two excellent surveys which were published under the titles,The House of Commons, 1832-1901 ,and the house of Commons, 1906-1911 which was published in 1958.He wrote also in WelshPolitically.Dr Thomas and his wife Winifred Thomas(nee Benjamin)were active within the[Labour Party]in {Anglesey]and gave their utmost support to their local Member of Parliament, [Cledwyn Hughes}.Lecturing at the University College of

North wales,Bangor they lived on the isle of Anglesey.,till his death on 26 August,{1963].
