John Allan (May 22, 1856 – July 31, 1922) was a Canadian politician.
Born in Guelph, Ontario, Allan came to Hamilton in 1864. Upon retiring from a life as an apartment builder in New York City, he returned again to Hamilton in 1906. Two years later, he was elected as an alderman. In 1909, he was accused of raping 3 young boys in his home and the court found him not guilty. In 1911, he sought the mayor’s chair, but was defeated by George Harmon Lees. He tried again for mayor in 1913, and was elected both that year and the next. He then became the Conservative Member of Provincial Parliament for the seat of Hamilton West, a position in which he served for one term.
