John Allan (1747-1805)

John Allan (1747-1805) was an officer of the Massachusetts Militia in the American Revolutionary War. He was born in Edinburgh Castle in Scotland on January 3, 1747.

He came to the Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1749, where he eventually rose to the position of justice of peace and clerk of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court. He came to Massachusetts to serve in the American Revolution in 1776, and rose to the position of colonel in the Massachusetts militia. He died in 1805.
