Johannesburg Regiment
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Johannesburg Regiment is an infantry regiment of the South African Army. As a reserve unit, it has a status roughly equivalent to that of a British Territorial Army or United States Army National Guard unit.
[edit] History
The regiment was formed in 1960, when the South African Army was reorganised for internal security duties. Most of the initial personnel came from a disbanded artillery unit, 8 Field Regiment.
