Joey Starter Deck

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Joey Starter Deck (SDJ), known in Japan as the Jonouchi Structure Deck, is one of two starter decks for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game released in March 2003.

The deck contains many cards Katsuya Jonouchi (Joey Wheeler in the English-language anime, hence the "Joey" name in the English version of the deck) used in the Duelist Kingdom and Battle City arcs of Yu-Gi-Oh!. It contains one ultra rare card, two super rares, and 47 common cards, the ultra rare being Jonouchi's signature card, the Red-Eyes Black Dragon.

Upper Deck chose to use the names used in 4Kids Entertainment's English version of the second Yu-Gi-Oh! anime (known as Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters in East Asia) for the "starter decks;" VIZ Media's English-language version of the manga, which uses "Jonouchi" instead of "Joey," came out after the "Starter Deck"s appeared. Therefore the English-language starter decks use the English anime names.
