Joey Crusel (1969-1988?) is a fictional character from the A Nightmare on Elm Street series of films. He was portrayed by Rodney Eastman in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master.

[edit] Dream Warriors

Joey Crusel is committed at Westin Hills Psychiatric Home along with several other kids from Elm Street who have been having nightmares about Freddy Krueger, the dream stalker who was vanquished by Nancy Thompson 6 years ago.

Nancy comes to visit Joey and her friends at the hospital. Nancy is the only person who believes their story, as she was one of a few people who managed to defeat Freddy in the past.

Joey is a very quiet patient, but finds one of the female nurses very attractive. He is later seduced by the nurse (by baring her breasts) in his dream, who reveals herself to be Freddy. Joey is literaly tongue tied by Freddy, and is left hanging above a pit of fire where he falls into a coma in the real world.

Kristen and the other inmates become the Dream Warriors and they attempt to save Joey by coming into the same dream. Eventually, they save Joey from a horrible fate. In the same dream however Freddy splits into dozen copies of himself and is attempting to take Kincaid, Kristen and Nancy. Joey finally speaks and reveals his dream power being able to scream so loud that it would burst ear drums and mirrors. It seems for a short while Joey has defeated Freddy only to be proven wrong although Freddy is killed soon after. However, their ordeal is not over yet...

[edit] The Dream Master

In the sequel to A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, Freddy returns to kill the remaining Elm Street children. While she is having a bad dream, Kristen Parker brings Joey Crusel, Roland Kincaid and Kincaid's dog into the dream world, which upsets Kincaid and Joey because there is no apparent threat. It is clear that Kincaid and Joey want to forget about Freddy and go on living like any other teenager.

While he is asleep one night, Joey has a dream in which a model from a poster is swimming inside his bed. But the naked model is actually Freddy and he kills Joey, just like he killed Kincaid in his dream. The next morning, Joey's mother finds Joey has drowned in his bed, which actually looks more like a large tank full of water.
