Joe Skarz is a professional footballer who currently plays for Huddersfield Town in Coca-Cola League One. His family originally came from Austria, hence his unusual surname.
On 4 November 2006, following impressive displays for the reserve side, Skarz made his début at left back in the home 1-1 draw against Scunthorpe United due to a shortage of cover in this position.
On 13 January 2007, Peter Jackson announced that Skarz would be the first choice left-back in preference to Danny Adams, although since then Jackson had signed Blackburn Rovers defender Andy Taylor on loan as competition for Skarz.[1]
On March 4, 2007, Skarz received the Football League Award for League One Apprentice.
