Sen. Joe Sam Queen
Joe Sam Queen (Democrat) is the current senator-elect to the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's forty-seventh Senate district, including constituents in Avery, Haywood, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell and Yancey counties. An architect from Waynesville, North Carolina, Queen served one previous term (2003-2004 session) in the state Senate before being defeated in 2004 by former Yancey County commissioner Keith Presnell.
Queen defeated Presnell and was reelected to the North Carolina Senate on November 7th, 2006.
