Joe Kilcoyne

Joe Kilcoyne is an American heavy metal musician formerly of the Cleveland, Ohio alterantive metal band Mushroomhead. Joe was the band's original bass player and went by the name Mr. Murdernickel, but he is credited as being the original "Pig Benis" before his brother (Jack Kilcoyne) joined the band and took the name. He was also the bass player of the, now disbanded, Cleveland Power/Thrash metal act Mystik.
While in the early 1980's Joe Kilcoyne attended Lakewood High School, Studied Music Theory and jammed with Bill Paul, both in the same music class, who Studied under Pauli Deneau, they both went to parties, Drank 190 grain alcohol, had good times with the High School girls, etc., and sometimes practiced long hours getting down power draws on the fretboards before the Cleveland Heavy Metal Company Bands were firmly established in the early 1980's. Influences from the Sixties Power metal Hard Rock-N-Roll bands like the Who, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Jopplin, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Cream, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, and other greats, Bill Paul was educated in Orchestral and Symphonic Backgrounds and raised on the 50's style rock-n-roll theory, and styles were blended together as they all jammed together learning together to bring these excellent ideals to what sounds have been created for the tunes for today which are heard and enjoyed by young and older audiences. Pauli has an excellent style which influenced Both Bill Paul and Joe Kilcoyne In the early 1980's and therefore both Bill Paul and Joe Kilcoyne have perfected through the teachings and insights from Pauli, which is one of the best influential guitarist of our area that is really unknown to most people unless they were into the guitar action at that time.
The psychadelic,garage metal band from Hephzibah,Georgia ,Murdernickel And His Death Threats coined there name off of his original stage name.Their guitarist and frontman Randy Johnson is an avid Mushroomhead fan.The band has since then changed the name to A Dying Anthem due to change in musical direction.
