Joe Haynes (baseball player)

Joseph Walton Haynes (September 21, 1917 - January 6, 1967) born in Lincolnton, Georgia was a Pitcher for the Washington Senators (1939-40 and 1949-52) and Chicago White Sox (1941-48).

He was named to the 1948 American League All-Star Team.

Haynes led the American League in Games (40) and Games Finished (35) in 1942 and in ERA (2.42) in 1947.

In 14 years he had a 76-82 Win-Loss record, 379 Games, 147 Games Started, 53 Complete Games, 5 Shutouts, 159 Games Finished, 21 Saves, 1,581 Innings Pitched, 1,672 Hits Allowed, 823 Runs Allowed, 704 Earned Runs Allowed, 95 Home Runs Allowed, 620 Walks Allowed, 475 Strikeouts, 26 Hit Batsmen, 35 Wild Pitches, 6,890 Batters Faced, 4 Balks and a 4.01 ERA.

He died in Hopkins, Minnesota at the age of 49.
