Joe E. Lewis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Joe E. Lewis, born Joseph Klewan, (1902-1971) was a American comedian and singer. Lewis gained notoriety by recovering his ability to perform after being muted in a botched mob hit; attempted because he refused to renew a contract to play in one of Al Capone's clubs in Chicago in 1927. His cocktail-infused humor is exemplified by his signature line, "It's post time!" - a reference to horses at the starting gate - after which he would start a new cocktail.
Lewis was played in the 1957 film The Joker is Wild by Frank Sinatra.
