Job syndrome

Job syndrome is an immunodeficiency disease caused by decreased activation of macrophages.

• recurent, non-inflamed staphylococcal abscesses
• eczema
• coarse facies
• retained primary teeth
• high levels of IgE
• decreased bone density and frequent fractures are common

[edit] Pathophysiology

Caused by a failure of γ-interferon production by Th cells. γ-interferon is responsible for stimulating macrophages. Also, there is a lack of a neutrophilic chemotactic response.

[edit] Treatment

Intermittent or continuous antibiotics to prevent staphylococcal infections.
