Job kiting
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Job kiting is the act of getting hired for a job with the intention of going through a paid orientation period that lasts usually from a few days to a few weeks but that does not involve performing any actual duties, following by voluntary resignation and receiving a paycheck for this period. Such activity may be costly to the employer.
Regardless of whather job kiting is unlawful in itself, an employer has the right in many states to stipulate in an employment contract that an orientation need only be paid after completing a certain number of hours of work for the employer.
