Jo (The Symphony of Ages)

[edit] Rescue

Readers first meet Jo about halfway through Haydon's Rhapsody: Child of Blood. Jo is a troubled and angry teenaged girl, sixteen at the time, who even after being rescued is rude and untrustworthy even to those who have just saved her life. Rhapsody, realizing the girl is troubled, orphaned and a child of the street like she herself once was, adopts Jo as her sister. Jo can hardly believe Rhapsody and her companions are not forcing her back to her home land (where she was kidnapped from) Navarne, where she is wanted for stealing.

[edit] Life After Adoption

After Rhapsody has Lord Stephen of Navarne pardon Jo, Jo travels with Rhapsody and her companions. Eventually, Jo becomes less unstable, more trustworthy and even a trained fighter, with the help of Grunthor. When Achmed becomes the leader of the Ylorc region, Jo stays with them, in a startlingly almost luxurious life she has never known.
