[edit] My RFA

Thank you very much for supporting my rather contentious request for adminship, but now that I've been promoted, I'd like to do a little dance here *DANCES*. If you have any specific issues/problems with me, please feel free to state them on my talk page so that I can work to prevent them in the future, and thanks once again!  ALKIVAR 07:49, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Prinsessakerho

The problem is that without any special styling this doesn't look like a template, and then other Wikipedians just write it as text to other pages instead of using the template. --Easyas12c 09:53, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

  • Why does it have to be a template in the first place? It's not as if "Mariah Kekkonen is a member of Prinsessakerho, a Finnish exclusive club" is terribly hard or arduous to type by hand. But the way it looked to me, in the opening paragraph and with the pink lines, it looked like a banner ad for the club. Maybe we need a template that would list all Prinsessakerho members and put it at the bottom of the article? JIP | Talk 10:11, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Muaeio

Aloha. Could you provide a reference source for Muaeio? Thanks in advance. --Viriditas | Talk 13:01, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

Not at the moment. I've searched Google for it, but the only hits are complete gibberish. I assume you speak Hawaiian? The only Hawaiian words I know are "aloha" and "haole". JIP | Talk 13:15, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
I'm no expert., but it does not look Hawaiian and I can find no similar Hawaiian words in my Hawaiian Dictionary. There are no common place names that start with mua or mu'a and the aeio(u) looks suspicious. I'll say more on the talk page for the article. - Marshman 03:38, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
I'm curious why a person with Admin status would create a bogus article? - Marshman

[edit] redirect and delete

That means to delete the crap in the history, and then create a redirect. Sorry for any confusion. Youngamerican 17:31, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] FireFox RFA

JIP/Archive 7

Thanks for your support on my request for adminship.

The final outcome was (96/2/0), so I am now an administrator. If you ever have any queries about my actions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Again, thanks!

[edit] My RfA

Thanks for helping to make my RfA successful. — Phil Welch 22:11, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] THANK YOU!

Thank you so much for voting in my RfA, and especially thank you for supporting me. I really appreciate it, and will wield the mop and bucket the best way I know how. I, like RoboCop, promise four things:

  1. Serve the public trust
  2. Protect the innocent
  3. Uphold the law
  4. Classified

I hope to do all those things and, even if I can't keep my fourth classified, will do all I can to be a great admin. I feel honored to be amongst the other users whom you have supported in RfAs. I take great pride in being up in the ranks with users such as FireFox and Alkivar. Stop by my talk page, or on article pages; I look forward to working with you. A belated thanks again, [[User:Mysekurity|Mysekurity]] [[additions | e-mail]] 04:30, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Freedom of speech

Hi JIP, I wonder if you might be willing to add a brief comment on FOS talk (for the record) documenting the reason for the significant deletion that you made recently? I think it might be helpful to have the benefit of a more of your thought on this matter than just the edit summary. Thank you. -Walter Siegmund (talk) 11:59, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you

Very much again for your nomination of me for adminship. Having just been confirmed for the position, I'll do my best to live up to your and my other supporters' high praise. Thank you! MC MasterChef :: Leave a tip 14:24, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Birthday party

On the talk page I posted a question about the results of this discussion. I don't see how the discussion supports the consensus decision you posted. Thanks, Cleduc 19:45, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

  • The thing is, when I first saw the AfD, I thought I'd close it with a result of NO CONSENSUS. So I did. Then I routinely clicked on the link to the article to add the AfD result. It turned out someone had already made it a redirect and added an AfD result of "made into a redirect". So I went back and changed the result to make into a redirect. JIP | Talk 20:26, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] More vandalism by 152.163.100.201

I laughed when I saw his talk page, every single line is a request to stop vandalism. I came across this because he just vandalized a page I was working on. I think it's time we simply banned this user forever. It appears every one of their edits is vandalism.

[edit] Scott Peterson

Hi,

Several days ago you closed the AfD on the Scott Peterson disamb. page with a good suggestion. I think there is a bare consensus (of 2-0) on the talk page of (convicted murder) to do the first option you suggested. I found all this when going back through old AfDs, and would have done the move, but an admin needs to, since all the pages involved already exist. So, I thought I'd bug you with this minor detail in case you have time to clean it up. Sorry :) Thanks, Xoloz 05:30, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Laurel Mountain Elementary School

The point of my comment in this debate was that you were voting keep for the wrong reason. It wasn't the fact it was a school that made it keep worthy, but the useful information it contained. - Mgm|(talk) 10:23, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Gloom (Game)

I believe you know more about this? Could you please expand the stub a bit? Radiant_>|< 11:36, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

  • I've expanded it a little, but can be of very little help, as I've never played it myself. "Gloom + Amiga" gets a great deal of Google hits though, so that information may prove useful. JIP | Talk 17:50, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks...

Thanks for removing vandalism on my talk page --Adam1213 Talk+ 12:55, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Eat'n Park

Hi JIP, I was wondering if you could take a second look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eat n park, as I've rewritten the article to remove the advertising. Thanks. Christopher Parham (talk) 17:29, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Kim Birtch

I saw that, when I hit save after closing it I saw your header/footer there as well. I couldn't get the cache to update, it showed the header when viewing but it disappeared when I went to edit it. So I couldn't clear mine out, I tried 4-5 times. I though I'd come back and try again after a bit but you got to it first, I didn't think about just rolling it back ;) The servers have been a bit unstable lately so I wasn't too suprised. Anyway, thanks for doing that, later! Rx StrangeLove 19:04, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Novenonagintennecentupentamillimyrillion

Hi. Its's not a big issue, but I think that the votes on this one are 3 (or 4 if you count the nominator, who has not voted but was clearly for deletion) for delete and 3 for merge/redirect (which actually had already been done). I assumed that the result of this AfD was a redirect; can I ask you why the article was deleted? Paolo Liberatore (Talk) 13:18, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Adminship

Thanks for the nomination JIP! I accepted, answered the questions, and added it to the RFA page. No more fighting off other potential nominators with a "JIP has called dibs on nominating me when the time is right" reply. ;-) --GraemeL (talk) 13:52, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Vandalism

Hi, I understand that you're just doing your job, but I honestly feel that you should reconsider having anything positive about Microsoft on Wikipedia. It is undeniably doing harm to the computing world, especially with the upcoming release of the restrictive Windows Vista. Be assured that my changes were in no way vandalism, as they were not intended to hurt anyone - they are solely intended to help people to better use computing and information technology, similarly to the mission of Wikipedia. I operate in moral character at all times, and although it may require a partial nature on behalf of Wikipedia (which I know you do not do), the admin staff on Wikipedia should also. And fyi, I still appreciate the job you guys do - somebody has to do it, and you do have a mission that I am in agreement with. --Rokeaj (talk) 0317EST 14Nov2005

  • I don't have any love lost for Microsoft myself, but I strongly disagree with you about your edits and "having to reconsider" having "anything positive about Microsoft". In case you haven't heard, this is an encyclopedia, which neither promotes or condemns Microsoft. Please see WP:NPOV. If you continue this sort of behaviour you may have to be blocked. JIP | Talk 08:19, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
  • I understand that this is an encyclopedia, and hence why I said I understand that you're simply doing your job and I appreciate the work you do. I'm not your everyday troll, so threats (such as the last one) are not necessary - I was simply talking to you, explaining myself, and saying essentially that I appreciate what you. No need to block me, as I'm done with my moral crusade via Wikipedia. Honestly though, please don't threaten me for speaking to you. --Rokeaj (talk) 0328EST 14Nov2005
  • Please stop editing my talk page. Your use of admin capabilities on it is quite unnecessary - I can manage without it being reverted, especially since what I'm doing on it is certainly not vandalism. --Rokeaj (talk) 0411EST 14Nov2005
    • I disagree. Removing comments from one's talk page without explanation or proper reason, especially when the said comments are warnings against vandalism, is considered impolite and may be regarded as vandalism. Comments left by others on your talk page are valid reactions from other users and should not be hidden. JIP | Talk 10:12, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] CrystalCherry

When will her page be returned. I proved everything on it was true.

[edit] Cherry Evidence

The CrystalCherry article should be recreated for the following: She has over 13,000 google hits She co-wrote a sing for a notable artist Mandy Moore’s single Hey! She work with a notable producer Niles Rodger who worked with even her rivals soulDecision. She is mentioned in the media including internet radio program, LanCe and Graal which is a pagan show where her song Crystal Clear was used as a closing song along with ealier mention. She also is mentioned on a Pagan site with over 435 views and plays of her song Crystal Clear. She is mentioned in the newpaper, though I am having trouble locating the article, maybe you can find it [the article]

Her article was deleted due to bias angry anti-Crystalcherry Avril fans.

Just to clarify, all the hits on that first page at Yahoo come from Wikipedia's mirror sites, referring to an article that has now been deleted. Oh, and I love AvrilVulturell 07:22, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

  • Vulturell and Cherryrain, you are asking the wrong person here. I don't know anything about this CrystalCherry person. I only came across her article when doing my administrative duties. I certainly don't know when, or even if, her article will be returned. When a Wikipedian writes an article about her, maybe. But it could also be nominated for deletion. Could you perhaps try asking the admin who closed the AfD debate? — JIP | Talk 07:44, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
Actually, I was the leading champion in the successful campaign to delete the pointless, inaccurate article that was CrystalCherry. I was just stating that the sources user CherryRain was trying to give you are either unreliable or come from Wikipedia itself.Vulturell 07:49, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
I repeat, you're asking the wrong person here. Ask people who actually know something about CrystalCherry and were involved in the AfD debate. — JIP | Talk 07:50, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
No, no, I'm not asking anything, obviously. I'm just saying user CherryRain should not be listened to and her sources are unreliable. I DO know something and I was heavily involved in the AfD debate. Vulturell 07:52, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know, then. But I am really taking no stance at all about this CrystalCherry person. — JIP | Talk 07:54, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] My RFA

Image:WikiThanks.png Thanks for your delete - err.. I mean support vote I think. I've now been made an administrator. I'll do my best not to let you down :) --Sherool (talk) 02:39, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for supporting me for adminship. The RfA passed today. I look forward to working with you to make Wikipedia a better place. --Nlu 03:50, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Crystalcherry

Crystalcherry has been recreated, I believe it lacks notability as per the previous AfD. I got involved in this when User:Cherryrain went "Opps", twice on Avril Lavigne and then requested my assistance after I reverted. I suspect this user has been biten/slighted by the AfD, and is not acting entirely in good faith. Cherryrain mentioned User:Drini's agreement for a rewrite; I'm not optimistic that will be sufficient to satisfy all users involved in this issue. (suggest replies/discussion should be directed to Talk:Crystalcherry) (CC'd to multiple users) - RoyBoy 800 05:59, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Accusation of sockpuppets

On the AfD page for James Atkinson (software developer), you accused User:Edward NZ as being a sockpuppet. I have two main questions:

1) of whom?

2) what evidence?

I ask this because I have proof that Edward NZ is not a sockpuppet, but in order to prove this to you, I need to understand where the accusation came from.. NeoThermic 12:17, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

I can't answer who he might be a sock puppet of, but when I looked at his contributions, I found out that his only edit was to the AfD debate of James Atkinson. New users don't generally start right out by participating in AfD debates. They make test edits, create a user page, or edit or create actual articles. And it seemed strange that he hadn't made any other edits, even though he has been here for a few days. — JIP | Talk 13:39, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

Makes sense. Edward NZ is the phpBB team member Anon, who spotted the AfD and registerd to vote on it. While that is a bit suspect, I'm sure he's entitled to an honest opinion as all of us :)
So yes, a bit odd, but definalty a sockpuppet my any strech of the imagination. Possible to retract the sockpuppet statment on the AfD page? That can't feel good for a new user to be accused of a sockpuppet on registration... :P NeoThermic 22:56, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] My RFA

Hi JIP,

I am now an administrator and would like to thank you for your nomination. Even though I had to fight off a few others as you had claimed the privilege of nominating me, I was very surprised at the number of votes and amount of and kind comments that I gathered. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I mess up in the use of my new powers. --GraemeL (talk) 14:31, 21 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you!

Hi JIP,

Thank you very much for your support on my RfA. I was both surprised and delighted about the amount of support votes and all the kind words! If I can ever help with anything or if you have any comments about my actions as an admin, please let me know! Regards, JoanneB 14:45, 21 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Nuggeting

You stated your opinion "without even looking at the article". Please read the article and re-visit the discussion. Please also visit Talk:NUGGET#Cleanup and consider adding the article to your watchlist and assisting in the effort to keep the article clear of unverifiable additions and original research by schoolchildren. Uncle G 15:21, 21 November 2005 (UTC)

  • It was because of all the sock puppets votes that I openly stated I'm voting without reading the article. I have done this for a number of other AfDs that were sock puppet infested as well. As far as I can recall, the all resulted in the articles being deleted. Is there a really good reason that the article should be kept? — JIP | Talk 15:59, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
    • There's a good reason for looking at the article and giving it proper consideration instead of dismissing it outright and unread: There's some evidence that this concept is accepted by adults as well as by schoolchildren. As I said, please read the article. ☺ Uncle G 16:23, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
