Jincheng

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jincheng (Chinese: 晋城; pinyin: Jìnchéng) is a prefecture-level city in Shanxi province of the People's Republic of China. Jincheng is an industrial city in an area where coal mining is an important industry. Unfortunately, because of the coal mining industry the city is very polluted.

The city is a good representation of China attempting to transform itself from an agrarian country into an industrial one. There are very few westerners in the city with the exception of Europeans who work as advisors within the mining industry.

The city is considered "small" by Chinese standards with a population of 3 million people.
