Jin Youzhi

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jin Youzhi (金友之) (born August 17, 1918) is the fourth (youngest) son of Zaifeng, 2nd Prince Chun and is, at age 88, the only surviving brother of Puyi, the last Emperor of China and Manchukuo.

[edit] Early Years

He was born Pu-ren (溥任) of the Aisin Gioro clan and hypothetically would be today's Emperor of Manchukuo, but not of China, because imperial tradition prescribed that a childless Emperor should choose his heir from the next generation of the family, not from his own generation, and Puyi appointed his cousin Prince Yuyan as heir of the Qing dynasty in 1950.

Instead of using his Manchu clan name as a surname, he adopted the surname Jin. This name means "Gold" in Chinese, as does "Aisin" in Manchurian. His courtesy name is Youzhi. He served for a time in minor administrative positions in the Beijing region. He is the father of Jin Yuzhang.
