Wow--A name I recognize from agility! Welcome to wikipedia. I'd love to expand the dog agility history a bit but have only limited information. Thanks for the compliments, though. Now--here's your official welcome message:

[edit] ACDs

And I see that you already visited the cattle dog page. The main reason the stub message was still there was that, to be complete, the article really needs info on standard height & weight and any other descriptive summary of their appearance (without reproducing the breed standards but remembering that there are visually impaired people who might be *listening* to the site), health issues, longevity, stuff like that. If you're feeling ambitious, have at it. (Although most of our dog articles from the list of dog breeds aren't nearly as complete as they should be eventually.)

Also, if you have a nice photo of an ACD doing agility that would add to the article and that you could identify the photographer and release under GFDL (like the wikipedia text is) or to public domain, that would be awesome. IMHO. Elf | Talk 20:10, 3 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Thanks! Good job. I also added your photos to the Wikipedia free-distr image gallery, here. A couple of tips:
  • There is a movement afoot to avoid putting a specific size on thumbnails and allowing them to default, so that later (or maybe now) anyone can set the size as part of their preferences, so if working on a smaller screen or if vision impaired they could adjust the size. The only times that I use specific sizes are if the photo itself is very small and I don't want it expanded, if the photo has detail that doesn't show up well at the default size, or in formalized places such as the breed tables, where it's always 250px.
  • To indicate your username/page, it's [[User:Jimhutchins]] rather than merely [[Jimhutchins]].

[edit] Visual systems template

Hmm, I don't get any message about it being locked when I go here: Template:Visual system. I can edit it--but usually (I think) I also see a message when it's locked to the general public. Double-check that link and see whether you still find it locked. If it is--It looks like all of the edits to this template so far were by User:Fuelbottle back in May, so I'd suggest playing it conservatively & contacting FB to point out your desired changes because there might then be a reason it's locked? Your changes sound reasonable to me and you're certainly qualified to know :-), but I hesitate to jump in without knowing the background. Let me know if you still don't have any luck. Hi, I've changed the template now, it wasn't really locked though, it's just that the edit link wasn't updated and went to the wrong place. Fuelbottle | Talk 12:11, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Magnocellular part

Hello, Jim. Magnocellular part is one of the articles that have been in cleanup for a year now, and it's still just a sentence. If I'm not mistaken, you are the principle contributor to lateral geniculate nucleus, which seems to be to most closely related article, so I was hoping that you have the knowledge to turn Magnocellular part into at least a decent stub. Thanks, and happy editing. Zocky 16:07, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Julie London

Hi Jim, sorry to say that I felt I had to decline Julie London as a nominee for Good Article status. As stated on the article talk page, I feel the list of movies she appeared in dwarfs the rest of the piece, and should be seriously condensed, perhaps to a "selected filmography" of bluelinked movies, with a greater discussion of her movie career in extended prose. Also, while informative the prose in the biographical main body of the piece does not quite hit the "compelling" mark. I also feel that the previous reason for declining GA status - "no refs" - was perhaps a bit curt given the consideration that should go into these things. Please let me know if you disagree with my opinion, while I have plenty of experience creating and editing WP articles, and much more as a writer in the real world, this is one of my first forays into the good article arena.
