Jimmy Keefe

James Keefe is a character on the FX drama Rescue Me. The character is played by James McCaffrey.

Jimmy was Tommy Gavin's cousin and best friend. Jimmy like Tommy was a firefighter. Jimmy gave his life saving others during the 9-11 tragedy. The only part of his body that was ever identified was one of his fingers. To this day Tommy is still affected by the loss of his best friend. Tommy often sees hallucinations of Jimmy and other people he couldn't save.

Jimmy was survived by his wife Sheila and their son Damien. Jimmy's "ghost" was originally against Tommy sleeping with Sheila but changed his mind when he saw that Sheila needed someone.

It hasn't been explained exactly how Jimmy is Tommy's cousin. Presumably Jimmy's father was not Tommy's father's brother because of the different last names. Most likely Jimmy's father was married to Michael Gavin's sister.
