Quinton James Cowan (born 6 March 1982 in Gore) is a New Zealand rugby union footballer. He plays halfback (scrum-half). He has been an All Black since 2004 where he made his debut during the 2004 tour to the United Kingdom and France.
He plays for the Highlanders in the Super 14 and for Southland in the National Provincial Championship.
Cowan was born in Gore, New Zealand, and attended Gore High School. He plays for Woodlands in the Invercargill premier competition. He made his All Black debut age 22, versus Italy in 2004 and has currently played 9 tests and 1 non-test against the Barbarians in December 2004.. His latest test match was against South Africa at Rustenberg in September 2006. This was his first test match start, and he performed admirably with a probing running game, accurate passing and stout defence marking his performance. He is one of the 3 halfbacks being used by the All Blacks for the 2006 Tri Nations Series. He wasn't required for the 2006 end of year tour to Europe.
