Jimi System

Jimi System (羁縻) is the ancient Chinse Tributary State System used between Tang to Ming dynasty, to stands for "Han and Yi is one big family “华夷一家”. There are three different Jimi system:
- Internal minority group regions, the emperor grant local governor the title of position, it run like Autonomous Region, be honor to the center government, it is part of the sovereignty. The emperor use the word "she"(“敕”). like Jimi Zhou
- Dependent state, like Goguryeo, Balhae(渤海), Nanzhao(南诏), Shule(疏勒), it has its own territory, serve as vassal, the leader must get center government approval. The emperor use the word "The Emperor asks"(“皇帝问”). say, Balhae is granted be“忽汗州大都督”
- Independent country, like Khitan, The emperor use the word "The Emperor regards"“皇帝敬问.
