Jim Pekol

Born James Brian Pekol on May 4, 1961, Jim Pekol is an accordionist from Wausau, Wisconsin known as "The Northwoods Polka King."

Jim, who is of Slovenian-German descent (Pekol was shortened from the Slovenian Pekolj), formed "Jim Pekol and His Orchestra" in 1979, and is known for injecting his music with a smooth Slovenian beat and well-blended vocal harmonies.

The band appeared in a Trucktoberfest TV commercial for Brickner Motors of Wausau, performed as the house band at the Telemark Ski Lodge in Cable, WI, and performed with "America's Polka King" Frank Yankovic from 1986-1996.

"Jim Pekol and His Orchestra" has made many recordings, including the recent CD's "Better Than Popcorn", "Jackpot", "Back to School" and "A Night on the Town."
