Jim Mather

Jim Mather was born on March 6, 1947. He was elected to the Scottish Parliament to represent the Highlands and Islands at the 2003 and is a member of the Parliament's Finance Committee. He is the SNP's Shadow Enterprise and Economy Minister.
He joined the SNP in 1996 and is the SNP’s National Treasurer. He contested the Argyll and Bute seat in 2003 and was the SNP candidate in the 2000 Ayr by-election. He has been involved in the development of the Economic Case for Independence and is a Director of Business for Scotland, a body which supports the SNP. He is a chartered accountant who was involved in the computer industry, latterly running his own business, before entering politics.
Mather will be the SNP's candidate for the constituency of Argyll & Bute for the 2007 Scottish Parliament elections.
