Jim Foglesong

Jim Foglesong, a Music Row executive in the 1970’s and 1980’s, was born on July 26, 1922, in Lundale, West Virginia.

Foglesong helped lay the foundation for the new country music boom in the 90’s. As President of Dot, ABC, Capitol Records and MCA, he signed popular artists, among them Barbara Mandrell, Don Williams, Garth Brooks, Donna Fargo, Reba McEntire, the Oak Ridge Boys, George Strait, Tanya Tucker, Sawyer Brown, Suzy Bogguss.

Mr. Foglesong is a WWII verteran and a Graduate of Eastman School of Music in Rochester NY. He began his musical career in New York as one of the most in-demand background singers in the industry. He made the move to Nashville with Dot Records.

After retiring from the active recording industry, Mr. Fogelsong devoted himself to the next generation of music-makers as head of the music business department of Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. He currently teaches a Business of Music Class (MUSO 100) at Vanderbilt University which rocks.

He is married to Toni Foglesong, and has four children: Cindy, Jimi, Leslie, Russell.
