Jim Field Smith

Jim Field Smith (20 February 19791—) is a British comedy writer, actor, television producer and director who has appeared in (or worked on) various British television programmes, radio shows, films and commercials. Amongst other things, he co-writes and stars in the BBC Radio 4 comedy series Deep Trouble with Ben Willbond. He has also appeared in recent British television comedies like "Suburban Shootout" (five), "Coupling" (BBC) and "The Robinsons" (BBC), and numerous commercials both on screen and as a voiceover artist. He often crops up in the credits of comedy and entertainment shows as "writer" or "script editor".
He is a member of the popular British sketch comedy group Dutch Elm Conservatoire, who were nominated for the Perrier Award for their show Conspiracy in August 2005. The show transferred to the West End, and recently toured the UK. The Dutch Elm Conservatoire performed at the 2006 Edinburgh fringe festival and the Belfast theatre festival with a show entitled "PRISON".
Jim is also appearing alongside Les Dennis and Mike McShane in a new comedy play called "Marlon Brando's Corset" which is touring the UK.
Jim has a number of TV producing and directing credits through his own production company, Idiotlamp, including "Missing Moscow" (Channel 4) and "My Friend..." (Channel 4), and also has directed a number of award-winning short films and advertising campaigns for clients such as AOL, MINI and Virgin Casino.
